How does dental implant process work?

The dental implant process typically takes place over a series of appointments at 63rd Street Dental. First, you’ll have an assessment appointment in which the dental care specialists determine your suitability. 

63rd Street Dental has a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) system on-site. This system takes 3D X-rays to help your providers plan ideal implant placement. Once you’ve agreed on a treatment plan, the CBCT system helps your specialist guide the implant placement. 

CBCT allows for the most precise implant placement, and that helps minimize the need for additional steps like bone grafting. With this ultra-accurate implant placement, you also get reduced recovery time. 

Generally, you’ll need one appointment for implant placement followed by a healing period of at least a few months. You’ll typically have a temporary crown for each implant as you heal. You’ll have another appointment for permanent crown attachment. The total treatment time can be anywhere from months to more than a year, depending on your situation.
